The Darwin Cycling Club is off to the Territory Wildlife Park this July for a criterium — because where else would you race except a place full of animals that are faster than you. It’s going to be a ripper.   Schedule - 6:30 am: Gates open   - 6:45-7:10 am: Sign‑on and warm‑up   - 7:10 am: Race briefing   - 7:20 am: Race starts   - 8:20-8:30 am: Racing finishes - 8:30-8:45 am: Packing up - 8:45 am: Coffee & presentations at the Territory Wildlife Park Cafe   AusCycling Membership Race participants must hold an AusCycling Race All Discipline membership (any club), Free Trial or 1 or 7 Day Event Licence. Membership options: auscycling.org.au/membership Neither Lifestyle or Race Off Road members can participate in this race, unless they hold a 1 or 7 Day Event Licence. Bring proof showing Race, Free Trial, or Event Licence/ membership status to sign‑on.   Grades & Race Times The race will run for approximately 45-55 minutes + 1 lap. Final timings depend on entries. - A Men - B Men / A Women - C Men / B Women - D Men / C Women (novices/first‑timers) Please nominate your expected grade during entry, but final placement will be determined by the DCC Grading Sub-Committee. You’ll be notified of any changes—ideally before race day, but possibly at sign-on. The objective of grading is to provide safe and enjoyable racing for everyone – riders too fast for a grade ruin the enjoyment for other riders; riders who are too slow for a grade compromise rider safety.   Bikes & Audio Devices - Allowed: Drop‑bar road bikes in safe working order; bar ends plugged. - Not allowed: TT bikes, tri bikes, MTBs, aero bars/clip‑ons. - No audio devices to be worn at any time: no headphones, no earphones, no bone‑conductors, no audio‑glasses. The Sunbuild Top End Gran Fondo is the Northern Territory’s largest cycling event. The event takes in some of the best riding that the region has to offer alongside hundreds of other keen cyclists, hosted by the Darwin Cycling Club, who are instrumental in the Top End cycling scene.   It is iconic in the Northern Territory, and includes participation options to suit any rider and ability level. Starting and finishing in Darwin’s beautiful Waterfront Precinct, riders in the event's variety of distances will get to ride on 40km of closed roads between Darwin and Palmerston, as well as take in a lap of the Charles Darwin National Park, right outside the Darwin City Centre.   We’re proud to deliver the fully-closed roads of the Top End Gran Fondo for event distances as short as 5km and all the way up to 135km. A buzzing event precinct at the Darwin Waterfront, Aid Stations to keep you fed and watered, and the wonderful warm, dry weather of Darwin in the dry season make for an unforgettable road cycling experience!   Entries and further Info: www.topendgranfondo.au

Darwin Cycling Club and Ride Against Cancer NT (66 Laps for Chantal Incorporated) are hosting a criterium race at Hidden Valley Raceway to raise funds for the Alan Walker Cancer Care Centre. The race will be held immediately before the Ride Against Cancer NT community event.   Grades, Race Times & Prizes The race will run for approximately 25–30 minutes + 1 lap. Final timings depend on entries. The Darwin Cycling Club will absorb these fees when making the donation, ensuring that participants’ full $20 entry fee is donated.   Food & Drinks Following the race, we expect the following food and drink vendors: Lions Litchfield (BBQ), Coca‑Cola (free water + cheap soft drinks), Tailwag Coffee, and Wicked NRG (hydration).   Ride Against Cancer NT Community Event – 6 June 2026, 8am–12pm The Ride Against Cancer NT community event kicks off at Hidden Valley Raceway immediately after the criterium. Expect food, drinks, coffee, a hydration station, a helicopter landing, and a dedicated kids’ corner.   The Ride Against Cancer NT community event raises funds for the Alan Walker Cancer Care Centre. Participants can walk, run, skate, or cycle the iconic Supercars track while helping complete 66 laps in tribute to Clive Baxter’s late wife, Chantal—who passed away at age 66—and in support of cancer care across the Northern Territory.   Entry to the Ride Against Cancer NT community event is included for all race participants. The Friday Night Team Time Trial is a race where teams of three riders work together to set the fastest time over 10 laps of Hidden Valley Raceway. In theory, it’s about smooth pacing, drafting and tidy rotations. In reality, it’s an excuse to tear around one of the planent's best cycling tracks with a couple of mates, have a laugh and pretend you’re pro. Suitable Bikes Ride whatever you like — MTB, tri, TT, hybrid or drop bar road — as long as it’s safe and working properly. Relocating and Rescheduling of the Team Time Trial Originally, a Team Time Trial was scheduled to take place at Lake Bennett on 17 May 2026. However, road damage in the area has made it unsafe for bicycle racing. The Territory Wildlife Park was considered as an alternative, but its roads are affected by similar issues. As a result, the Team Time Trial has been relocated to Hidden Valley Raceway and will now be held on the evening of Friday, 15 May 2026.

Darwin Cycling Club is excited to unveil our newest road race circuit in Livingstone — a 6.92 km loop. On Sunday 19 April, riders will take on multiple laps of this fresh rural course, with distances set by grade to keep the racing tight and competitive. Whether you’re chasing a podium, testing your early‑season form or lining up for your first race, this is the perfect chance to experience a brand‑new Darwin bike race.   Course 6.92 km circuit in Darwin's rural area, starting from near the entrance of Livingstone Reserve: Livingstone Rd > Cornock Rd > Scrutton Rd > Blyth Rd > back to Livingstone Rd. https://www.strava.com/routes/3392583337908871850   The course is on open roads; however, Core Traffic Control will manage all traffic to maintain a safe environment for riders and the community.   Grades Multiple grades available. Please advise of your preferred grade during checkout in the comments, however grades and race distances on the day will depend on the numbers and make up of entries.  Expected race distances are:   A grade men: 55 km (8 laps) B grade men / A grade women: 48 km (7 laps) C grade men / B grade women: 42 km (6 laps) D grade men / C grade women: 35 km (5 laps) (ideal for novice or first time participants)   Race Licence/ Membership All participants require an AusCycling Race All Discipline licence, however a 4 week free trial and lower cost one and seven day event licences are available.
